In Kirk Mitchell's article “Man struck by freight train in Colorado Springs” what mattered to him was to raise awareness about how dangerous trains and being by their tracks can really be. I honestly don’t know how you get killed by a train because you shouldn’t even be by them in the first place. In his article he states “486 people died and 393 were injured while trespassing railroad property in the U.S. He is trying to get people to think twice about going to a train track because it can be potentially life treating. In the article Lt. Julie stone states “ You can never assume any tracks are safe.” Mitchell is trying to show people that it is extremely dangerous. Mitchell is trying to stress that no one is safe when they are on or around train or train tracks.

It also seems that the author was trying to portray that the authorities didn’t quite know what they were up against and under estimated the challenge. As an example, Mitchell pointed out that the marshals didn’t really know where the fugitive’s Mom was living.
